The Effects Of Social Networking On College Students Essay

Today, among college students social networking sites have become very popular. Social networking sites connect individuals with their friends and families to communicate and with the ability to form new relationships with other individuals from around the world. Facebook is the leading social networking site among college students today, many which are active on a daily basis. Students may share information, pictures, and posts or their ideas in order to interact with others and to find other individuals with similar interests. Facebook can easily become an extreme habit for some college students. Therefore, college students are spending long amounts of time online and may find it difficult to interact with others face-to-face. Does the use of social networking sites decrease college students’ social interactions in the real world? Social networking sites, like Facebook, allow individuals to create a profile, either that they may set to public or private with having a list of â€Å"friends† or â€Å"followers† to share and view what others post in a feed. Users will interact over this site with other individuals, either by â€Å"liking,† â€Å"commenting,† or â€Å"messaging.† Facebook allows users to post a status about whatever the individual wants, from statuses, pictures and checking into different places or events.
